Beautiful views as we open the curtains this morning of lovely homes perched all the way up the hills, with all kinds of beautiful boats cruising around us, blue skies and sunshine – what a great place – they do call it the jewel of the Adriatic!
A shuttle bus took us to the Old City of Dubrovnik, another magnificent walled city with cobblestone streets whose history goes back to the 13th century. But this beautiful city is quite unique as you can walk on the top of the wall itself, which is around a couple of klms., with lots and lots of steps, quite steep in some places. The views were totally breathtaking – both of the sea and boating on the one side, and the terracotta roofs of the hundreds of homes and spectacular buildings within the walled city, on the other side. It was very hot and quite strenuous in some places, so the stop at the "Juice Spot", was very welcome, until we got the bill – approx. $10 a glass that was half filled with ice!!!
It took us over an hour to walk the wall at a moderate pace and the crowds, of course, started to make the journey a little slower but it was brilliant!! By the time we descended the many steps, it was time to rest and recharge our batteries and we were lucky to find a great little restaurant – and need I say it – another Greek Salad (this time in Croatia)!!!
A short stroll around the shops etc., and it was time to head 'home'. After a short siesta, the most beautiful of sailaways and then it was time to spruce up for yet another formal night – don't know how we are coping!!!! Looking forward to a sea day tomorrow…..
