DAY 40 - WEDNESDAY, 21 AUGUST 2013 KATAKOLON, GREECE

A very special day today – Happy Birthday Babe!!! – Thinking about you and hope you have just the best day xxxxxx

Today was spent in a delightful Greek fishing village  – Katakolon.  We docked at the port which is right in town and almost had the town to ourselves until the 'Costa Magica' docked around 1pm, and the crowds swelled.

Katakolon is the port for visiting Olympia but quite frankly, we are ruined out, as are the majority of passengers on board, so we'll give this historic site a miss today – maybe another day/year, when it is cooler.

Colin & I walked through the maze of shops to one of the nearby beaches with deck beds and covered umbrellas, all for the cost of a drink – we had our newly acquired iced coffee - whilst sunning ourselves and watching the little ripples on the shore – it was very, very shallow, but refreshing.

We walked back and ate yet another Greek Salad & Moussaka, in a café by the water, just so pretty, whilst watching some little boys fishing for tiny fish with bread and a great big hook - we laughed to ourselves, until they caught a very large eel, which no doubt will make a good meal for the family.

Not to miss another shopping experience, we strolled back through the numerous shops full of souvenirs and all kinds of goodies – but I was good today and resisted temptation!!!
