Our breakfast arrived at 8am, just in time for us to watch us sailing by the volcanic island of Stromboli, a perfect view – if only it hadn't had a cover of cloud!!! We then entered the Messina Strait which separates the island of Sicily from Italy, and docked in the port of Messina.
Another tour booked with Joanne, Garry, Ros, Arnold, Anthea and Dennis, and our driver, Antonio. We headed straight for the old town of Savoca which is where "The Godfather" was made and had a quick wander around its hilly streets and up to the beautiful church. We enjoyed a refreshing Granita in the Bar Vitelli and then headed for another quaint and beautiful little town of Taormina, where we hit crowds of fellow travellers - in their hoards. Another steep walk up to the Greek Theatre which was later used by the Romans as an amphitheatre, where we got some great views of little beaches and coves, all basking in the sunshine. Walked back down the narrow street filled with sourvenir shops and Colin & I enjoyed welcome milkshakes and pizza whilst we watched the world go by.
Another wonderful day!!
