DAY 19 - WEDNESDAY, 31 JULY 2013 THE MALDIVES

Room service brekky delivered at 6am – we were even up before those pesky tender boats, and how beautiful does it look outside.  We are very fortunate to have a private tour booked today with 16 others to the Resort island of Bandos.

Off the ship by 7.30am and a short tender trip to shore, the capital of the beautiful Maldives, Male.  A short wander around the streets, shops closed, until our ferry arrived at 8.30 to take us to our beautiful destination.  Immediately we knew we were in for something good, very good!!!  We literally walked around this total resort island, full of pretty little villas, in about half an hour, capturing too many photos (hardly any to delete) and enjoying the beautiful crisp colours – lush green foliage, crystal clear turquoise water and the whitest sand (that only compares with Whitehaven Beach, Qld.).

Found our buddies at the water sports beach/bar area and many were snorkeling, swimming and sunning themselves and having the best time in this truly beautiful spot – we also had a dip and the water was 'perfect'.  The hunger pangs started to grab hold and we gathered our group for lunch at the bar – think I ordered the best there was, a sensational salmon pizza with capers, yummmm!!!

Sadly, it was time to leave but now we know that those pictures we have seen in the mags., are for real!!  A lovely day in this very pretty part of the world.

Somehow the early morning and fresh air paid their dues and Colin and I 'nanna napped' during sailaway and were very lucky to wake up for dinner.  All were rather weary at the table tonight but a super day and very fond memories of those beautiful picture perfect islands of the Maldives – the photos will never do it justice!!

Photos:  First 2 pics. are of Male (kinda pronounced Mahlei) before they opened;  then all the pretty pics. are of our day getting to and having fun on the Resort Island of Bandos and then returning 'home'.
