As we have done the big touristy attractions in Athens recently, we again were lucky to have booked a tour with Joanne, Garry and co. and we set off in our small bus with Dimitri driving and headed for the hills to the Corinth Canal, which is a man made canal linking the Aegean Sea to the Ionian Sea, but there was no shipping going through at the time.
Next stop was the archaeological site of the Ancient Corinth – again a massive area of ruins of gigantic proportions and a very good Museum with a great collection of mosaics and antiquities.
Back in the bus and an hour's drive to our next destination, the lovely seaside town of Nafplion (Greece's first capital) where we ate like kings – Greek Salad and huge servings of Moussaka - and then we wandered around the truly delightful and quaint little streets, letting our lunch digest, before indulging in Gelatos (should have eaten the lovely Greek Ice Cream, but the Gelato was going to slide down a whole lot easier!!!).
Back in the bus and our big 2 hour trip 'home', taking in the scenery between dozes!!!
Photos: All of our day out.
