We appear to be zig zagging around the Mediterranean and this morning we docked at the island of Corfu, in the Ionian Sea. Like Rhodes, they also have an 'Old Town', which has been named a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
It was very hot and although this Old Town didn't appear to be that far away, it was much more comfortable to catch the bus, with our mates, Paula & Ray. Once inside the Old Town, we were not surprised to see some very familiar sights – loads of shops, cafés and restaurants – again!!! Beautiful old, old buildings lined the narrow streets and we walked around for an hour or so until 'coffee was calling', so found a nice large outdoor restaurant, with a cool breeze.
Once invigorated, we all set off and strolled to the Palace of Michael & George and we kept walking around the picturesque foreshore, looking down onto a couple of small pebbly beaches. We ended back in the Old Town and did lots of window shopping – again proud of myself for not being tempted. Before we knew it, it was lunch time and we decided to return to the same restaurant and had the most amazing Greek Club Sandwiches – really tasty and hit the spot!!!
Back on the ship and it was time for cooling off in the pool – which was actually very cool today, but totally refreshing and then time for sailaway and dinner with our friends.
