A very special day today as we entered the Gallipoli Peninsular this morning and cruised into one of our country's most sacred memorial sites – ANZAC COVE – where thousands of our brave Australian and New Zealand soldiers lost their lives during their first battle in World War I – The Battle of Gallipoli, which began on 25th April, 1915, and ended 8 long months later.
An Anzac Cove Dawn Service was again organized at 6.30am up on Deck 12 and very well attended by hundreds of passengers. It was a beautiful calm, but cool morning and with the rising of the sun, it was so evident how impossible this conflict was going to endure a reasonable battle, with the rugged cliffs being our soldiers first obstacle – but of course that is now history and we pay homage to these brave young men – Lest We Forget…. Our Captain, Clergy, Veterans, and Dawn Choir all played their part in this Service.
AND it is also Father's Day – so we also give our thanks to all the Dads in our lives – we love you very much!!! Colin and I had a nice lunch in the Dining Room and a lazy afternoon in the sunshine.
It was another Formal Night – very fitting for the handsome men on our table who all looked sensational in their dinner suits and Ros & Jo had also organized for a special gift for each of them, which was so thoughtful.
